No Contact Curbside-Only Pickup

Pataskala Public Library is offering no contact curbside pickup for materials that we have on our shelves. This service is being offered Monday through Thursday 12:00-6:00 PM, and Fridays and Saturdays 10:00 AM -2:00 PM.

Follow these simple steps to pick up items:

  1. To use this service, place your holds online or over the phone. This service is for items that are checked in and available at the Pataskala Library only. (Click here for a video tutorial on how to find and place local holds online)
  1. When your items are ready, we will notify you by email, phone, or text message, depending on your account preference.
  1. Drive to the library and park in a parking space.   
  1. Call 740-927-9986 to let library staff know you are there to pick up your items.  Provide staff with your library card number or your name, address, and phone number so that your items can be checked out. 
  1. Library staff will place your items on a designated table, then stand at the door of building and watch while you pick up your items. 
  1. Enjoy your library materials! 
  1. When you are done with your items, return them through the outdoor book drop.  Please do not give them to our staff.

After being returned to a book drop, all library items are going through a 72-hour quarantine process. Only items that have been quarantined for 72 hours will be filled for holds or re-shelved. Research has shown that COVID-19 can stay alive on some materials for up to 72 hours. Bulky items (e.g. board games) that are too large to be returned through book drops must be returned during our open hours. We will have a bulk return bin available.

For your safety, as well the safety of our staff:

  • Please do not approach the holds pickup table until you have been given a table number.
  • We ask that you stand at least 6 feet from our staff and other patrons.
  • We encourage everyone to wear a mask. Our staff will be wearing masks when we deliver your materials to the holds pickup tables.
  • The holds pickup tables will be disinfected at least every hour.
  • All items must be returned in the book drop. Please do not give returns to staff members.

FAQs:

  • Is your book drop open?
    • Yes, our book drop remains open. Per CDC guidelines to stop the spread of COVID-19, we will not check in items until 72 hours have passed to ensure they are safe to handle. Items will remain on your card for at least 72 hours after you return them. Pataskala is a fine free library, so anything checked out at our library will not be fined.
  • Are the items we pick up clean?
    • We cannot make this guarantee. We do not have enough cleaning supplies to clean all the items that come in and leave the library. You are welcome to wipe down materials; however, please be mindful that some wipes hold a lot of liquid and we do bill for water stained materials.
  • Can I request materials from other libraries?
    • No. Transit between libraries is still suspended. This is to help stop the spread of COVID-19 between libraries.
  • Can I return items from your partner libraries to Pataskala?
    • Yes. You can return items from other CLC libraries to Pataskala Library. The items will be returned to their home library once transit between libraries is up and running. To see a list of our partner libraries in CLC, click here.
  • How long do I get materials for?
    • Regular loan rules will apply. Please bring items back as you are able, so that other patrons have an opportunity to check them out. Return them in our outdoor book drop. Pataskala is a fine free library, so anything checked out at our library will not be fined.
  • What if I have items on hold but do not feel comfortable using the curbside service?
    • Please call 740-927-9986 to suspend your holds until we fully reopen (date to be determined) so you do not lose your place in line for holds.
  • What if I no longer want to check out the items I have on hold?
    • Please call 740-927-9986 to cancel your current holds.
  • Can I have documents printed?
    • Yes. You can send any documents (up to 20 pages) to pataskalalibrary@gmail.com with instructions of how many copies and if color is needed. We will print the documents and have them ready for you. Call us at 740-927-9986 when you arrive in the parking lot. We will give you a table number to retrieve your documents. This service is free for the time being.
  • Can I fax documents?
    • No. Faxing services are not currently available.
  • Can I use the internet computers?
    • No. We are not currently allowing patrons inside the library. You can access our free WiFi from our parking lot.
  • Are you accepting material donations?
    • No. We are not currently accepting material donations (e.g. books, DVDs, CDs). However, you may send monetary donations to:
